Four significant users of the darknet marketplace Silk Road have been arrested in the UK, the National Crime Agency (NCA) has said.
The men, aged between 24 and 33, were arrested in dawn raids in London, Manchester and the West Midlands on Tuesday.
They are accused of being involved in the supply of drugs, including heroin, cocaine, MDMA and LSD, on Silk Road.
The NCA said the men had been using the site to sell drugs to customers in the UK and around the world.
Silk Road was a darknet marketplace that operated from 2011 to 2013. It was shut down by the FBI in 2013, but new sites have since sprung up to take its place.
The NCA said the arrests were a "significant blow" to the darknet drug trade.
"These individuals were involved in the distribution of significant quantities of class A drugs," said NCA senior investigating officer Andy Hayman.
"They were using the darknet to facilitate their criminality, but we have been able to track them down and bring them to justice."
The NCA said the men had been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs and money laundering. They are due to appear in court later this week.
The arrests come as the NCA continues to crack down on the darknet drug trade. In February, the agency announced the seizure of more than £1 million worth of drugs from a darknet marketplace.
The NCA said it is working with international partners to disrupt the darknet drug trade and bring those involved to justice.
