Chính phủ Anh đang chuyển sang hạn chế các chương trình khuyến mãi tiền điện tử nhằm bảo vệ người tiêu dùng khỏi bị tổn hại tài chính.
Cơ quan quản lý tài chính (FCA) đã đề xuất các quy tắc mới yêu cầu các công ty tiền điện tử phải được cấp phép và thực hiện quảng cáo "công bằng, rõ ràng và không gây hiểu lầm".
Các quy tắc cũng sẽ cấm các công ty tiền điện tử nhắm vào những người dễ bị tổn hại về tài chính, chẳng hạn như những người có vấn đề về cờ bạc hoặc những người có thu nhập thấp.
FCA nói rằng các quy tắc mới là cần thiết để bảo vệ người tiêu dùng khỏi các rủi ro liên quan đến đầu tư tiền điện tử.
"Tiền điện tử là những khoản đầu tư có rủi ro cao và người tiêu dùng cần phải nhận thức được những rủi ro trước khi họ đầu tư", giám đốc điều hành của FCA, Andrew Bailey nói.
"Chúng tôi muốn đảm bảo rằng người tiêu dùng không bị đánh lừa bởi cách các sản phẩm tiền điện tử được quảng cáo."

The UK government is moving to restrict cryptocurrency promotions in a bid to protect consumers from financial harm.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has proposed new rules that would require cryptocurrency firms to be licensed and to conduct "fair, clear and not misleading" advertising.
The rules would also ban cryptocurrency firms from targeting people who are vulnerable to financial harm, such as those with gambling problems or who are on low incomes.
The FCA said that the new rules are necessary to protect consumers from the risks associated with cryptocurrency investments.
"Cryptocurrencies are high-risk investments and consumers need to be aware of the risks before they invest," said FCA chief executive Andrew Bailey.
"We want to make sure that consumers are not misled by the way that cryptocurrency products are advertised."
The FCA's proposals are open for consultation until 20 March 2023.
If the rules are adopted, they will come into force in 2024.
