**Nexo co-founder says crypto crash is 'like 1907'**
The co-founder of crypto lending platform Nexo has compared the current market crash to the panic of 1907.
Antoni Trenchev told CNBC that the recent sell-off in cryptocurrencies was "very similar" to the financial crisis that occurred a century ago.
"We are seeing a lot of the same dynamics that we saw back in 1907," he said. "We are seeing a lot of leverage in the system, we are seeing a lot of interconnectedness."
Trenchev said that the current crash was being driven by a number of factors, including rising inflation, the war in Ukraine, and the Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes.
He added that the crash was also a result of the "irrational exuberance" that had gripped the crypto market in recent years.
"We saw a lot of people getting into crypto who didn't really understand what they were doing," he said. "And now they are getting out."
Trenchev said that the crash was a "necessary correction" to the crypto market, but he added that he was confident that the market would eventually recover.
"This is not the end of crypto," he said. "This is just a speed bump on the road to mass adoption."
