Dragonfly Capital and Alameda Research, the trading firm founded by former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes, have backed a $6 million funding round for Ethena, a new stablecoin project.
Ethena is a decentralized stablecoin that is backed by a basket of assets, including cryptocurrencies, fiat currencies, and commodities. The project aims to provide a more stable alternative to existing stablecoins, which are often pegged to the U.S. dollar.
The funding round was led by Dragonfly Capital and Alameda Research, with participation from other investors including Coinbase Ventures, Polychain Capital, and 1confirmation.
