### US Treasury: Bitcoin's Use in Funding Terrorism 'Unclear'
The US Treasury Department has said that it is "unclear" whether Bitcoin is being used to fund terrorism.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Treasury said that it had "not seen evidence that indicates that Bitcoin is being used to finance terrorism."
However, the Treasury said that it was "monitoring the situation closely" and would "take action if necessary."
The statement comes after a number of high-profile terrorist attacks in recent months, including the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, which killed 22 people.
In the wake of the attacks, there have been calls for more regulation of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
However, the Treasury said that it did not believe that "additional regulation of the underlying technology" was necessary.
"The use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for illicit purposes is a small fraction of the overall volume of activity in these markets," the Treasury said.
"We believe that the best way to address the risk of misuse is to continue to work with our domestic and international partners to disrupt and dismantle terrorist networks."
