The chef came out to the table, and I explained to him that I didn't want to eat the intestinal shells. He said that he understood, and he would have them removed.
A few minutes later, the chef came back with the mussels, and they were perfect. The intestinal shells had been removed, and the mussels were delicious.
I was so happy that the chef had been able to accommodate my request. It made me feel like I was being taken care of, and it made the experience of eating at the restaurant that much more enjoyable.
I'm not sure why the waiter didn't take the intestinal shells off the mussels the first time I asked him to. Maybe he didn't know what they were, or maybe he didn't think it was important.
