In a blog post, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Input Output Global (IOG), which develops Cardano, said that the SEC's argument is "fundamentally flawed."
"The SEC's claim that ADA is a security is based on the erroneous assumption that all digital assets that are offered in an initial coin offering (ICO) are securities," Hoskinson wrote. "This is simply not the case."
Hoskinson argued that the SEC's definition of a security is too broad and that it would include many non-security assets, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
"The SEC's position is not only wrong, but it is also dangerous," Hoskinson wrote. "It threatens to stifle innovation and investment in the blockchain industry."
Hoskinson called on the SEC to reconsider its position and to work with the blockchain industry to develop a more appropriate regulatory framework.
