The collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX has not deterred new users from joining the Solana blockchain, according to a top executive at the company.
"We're still seeing net new users coming onto the platform," said Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana's co-founder and CEO. "We're not seeing any slowdown."
FTX, which was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States last week after suffering heavy losses due to the collapse of the TerraUSD stablecoin. The company's collapse has raised concerns about the stability of the cryptocurrency market as a whole.
However, Yakovenko said that Solana is not facing the same problems as FTX.
"Solana is a decentralized blockchain," he said. "It's not a centralized exchange. So we're not exposed to the same risks."
Yakovenko also said that Solana is still seeing strong growth in terms of transaction volume and developer activity.
"We're seeing a lot of new projects being built on Solana," he said. "And we're seeing a lot of new users coming onto the platform."
Yakovenko's comments come as the cryptocurrency market continues to struggle. The price of Bitcoin has fallen by more than 50% since its peak in November, and the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies has fallen by more than $2 trillion.
