Digital asset investment manager CoinShares has reported a 45% drop in its preliminary Q1 earnings from the same period a year ago.
The company said in a statement that it made £56.2 million ($66.9 million) in revenue in the first three months of 2023, down from £101.2 million in Q1 2022.
The decline was driven by a number of factors, including the sharp drop in the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. CoinShares said that its Bitcoin-related revenue fell by 57% year-on-year, while its Ethereum-related revenue fell by 62%.
The company also said that its total assets under management (AUM) fell by 23% to £12.8 billion ($15.5 billion) in Q1 2023.
Despite the decline in earnings, CoinShares said that it remained profitable in Q1 2023, with a net profit of £7.1 million ($8.4 million).
The company said that it was "well-positioned" for the future, and that it expected to see growth in the second half of 2023.
