Switzerland is looking to attract more blockchain startups by opening a regulatory sandbox. The sandbox will allow startups to test their products and services in a controlled environment, without having to comply with all of the regulations that apply to traditional financial institutions.
The sandbox is being created by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). It will be open to both Swiss and foreign companies. Startups that participate in the sandbox will be subject to a lighter regulatory regime than traditional financial institutions. This will allow them to experiment with new products and services without having to worry about the full weight of the regulatory system.
The sandbox is expected to be launched in early 2023. FINMA has said that it will provide more details about the sandbox in the coming months.
