Hut 8's total Bitcoin production was 3,540 Bitcoin, up from 1,554 Bitcoin in the second quarter of 2021. The company's Bitcoin mining capacity was 1.9 exahash per second (EH/s) at the end of the quarter, up from 1.2 EH/s in the previous quarter.
Hut 8's hash rate growth was driven by the addition of new miners and the expansion of its existing facilities. The company added 2,800 miners in the second quarter, bringing its total to 8,400 miners. Hut 8 also expanded its facility in North Vancouver by 50%, bringing its total capacity to 100 megawatts (MW).
Hut 8's CEO, Jaime Betteridge, said in a statement that the company is "on track to achieve our goal of becoming one of the largest Bitcoin mining companies in the world." He added that Hut 8 is "well-positioned to capitalize on the growth of the Bitcoin mining industry."
