London-based digital asset investment firm CoinShares has launched its first exchange-traded product (ETP) tracking the price of Litecoin. The ETP, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange's (LSE) Euronext exchange, is the first of its kind to be listed on a major European exchange.
The CoinShares Litecoin ETP is physically backed by Litecoin, meaning that for every unit of the ETP that is issued, there is an equivalent amount of Litecoin held in reserve. This provides investors with a secure and transparent way to gain exposure to the price of Litecoin without having to buy and store the cryptocurrency themselves.
The ETP is also eligible for inclusion in investment portfolios, making it a more attractive option for institutional investors than buying Litecoin directly.
